Get Relief with

Graston Technique®
Woodbridge, Vaughan, & Surrounding Areas

Dealing with an injury is hard enough, but dealing with the bodily aftermath of that injury can be even more frustrating when you’re just ready to get back to your life; that’s where Graston Technique® comes in.

At Full Function Rehab & Wellness, we assign Graston Technique® treatments to tissues we’ve deemed problematic in order to:

  • Speed up rehabilitation and recovery times
  • Help remedy long-term issues once thought to be permanent
  • Decrease scar tissue while increasing tissue healing
  • Prevent the need for anti-inflammatory medication
  • Promote increased blood flow

Though there are some incredible benefits to taking on Graston Technique® we encourage all of our patients to understand that this isn’t a luxurious therapeutic treatment by any means.

While you’ll certainly feel the alleviation of your symptoms after you receive Graston Technique®, that might not be the case right away. Because of the nature of this technique, you may experience redness and even minor bruising after receiving the therapy.

As with many of the effective treatments we offer, you’ll first receive an assessment before we administer Graston Technique® so that our staff can determine the best method of care for your specific situation. Graston may be most effective in combination with some of our other services or on its own; in any case, you can trust that your treatment plan will be wholly customized.

Some of our other advanced therapy techniques include:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Cold Laser therapy
  • Massage therapy
  • Manual therapy techniques
  • Soft tissue therapy
  • Rehabilitative exercises
  • Shockwave Therapy
  • Chiropractic care

How Graston Technique Works In Woodbridge, Vaughan

The most important part of Graston Technique® is the instrument—it’s truly responsible for the entire process. The Graston instruments are a series of metal tools that essentially let the clinician feel things they wouldn’t be able to do on their own.

Think of the last time you visited your primary care physician. Did they simply press their ear to your chest and back in order to ensure your internal functions are performing properly? Of course not! Just like your doctor uses a stethoscope, the Graston instruments allow clinicians to better feel dysfunctions in your tissue.

Because these instruments are made of stainless steel, they do not compress as one’s fingers would when pressed into tissue. Why is this important? Because it allows Graston Technique® to more effectively work out scar tissue and other blockages.

When more and deeper pressure is applied, more deeply ingrained scar tissue is resolved. This is also the portion of Graston that can result in some pain following proper treatment. However, the long-term result is joint mobilization and comfort, as well as relief from persistent issues.

You may be wondering, how is Graston Technique® really that different from a deep tissue massage, or some other similar therapeutic treatment? The answer rests with the instruments. While it’s true that something like a deep tissue massage in Woodbridge can help resolve some of the same issues, it won’t be able to do it as effectively or as fully.

So the question that inevitably follows is, “should I only receive Graston treatments if I am dealing with serious pain?” While Graston Technique® is certainly effective at reducing serious pain, it’s good for more than just that. Any sort of injury or trauma, even those of lesser severity, can be helped by Graston.
